–Bronze: Australian International Beer Awards 2012
-What is the style “Belgian Ale”? Ratebeer says:
“Belgian-style ales seldom fit neatly into classic beer styles, but this category represents those ales under approximately 7% abv that do not fit other categories. Colour ranges from golden to deep amber, with the occasional example coming in darker. Body tends to be light to medium, with a wide range of hop and malt levels. Yeastiness and acidity may also be present.”
- Style: Belgian Ale
- Taste: Fizzy crisp light sweet to dry barley malt soft bitter hops
- Do I love this enough to drink it again: no
- Would I recommend this to beer aficionados: no
Visual: Pours clear orangish brown with a small head, 1mm foamy retention, lots of clusters of fast streams.
Nose: sweet lager barley malt, honey-chamomile-citrus hints. (lvl-6)-pungency
Attack: crisp-creamy, fizzy-tingly
Mid-palate: soda fizziness, (lvl-3)-sweetness, (MAIN) lemon-orange tangy, barley malt
Finish: burpy, very dry grainy barley malt, soft bitter hops
Summary: Lots of bubbliness to sustain the texture, quite basic barley malt from low-sweet to hoppy dry. Can’t say there’s a whole lot of depth to it.
