Central City/Parallel 49 2015 Craft Crossing Calendar Day #19

Please Sir S’more Stout – Parallel 49 Brewing Co., 10.0% ABV – 341ml., (Vancouver, BC, Canada)

on the front-left label:

“Chocolate, graham crackers and marshmallows go together like gold, frankincense and myrrh. This smooth stout is over-flowing with all the s’mores flavours you know and love. You’re definitely going to want seconds of this one.”

  • Style: Imperial Stout
  • Taste: Heavy thick sweet MALT
  • Do I love this enough to drink it again: no
  • Would I recommend this to beer aficionados: skip it

Visual: Pours super dark brown with virtual no head, micro bubbles around the perimeter, some slow yet steady micro streams also around the perimeter.

Nose: thick sweet caramel malts. (lvl-8)-pungency

Attack: heavy-slick-oily, mild carbonation, subdued alcohol

Mid-palate: (lvl-8)-heavy sweetness, (MAIN) bitter alcohol detection, thick caramel barley malts, molasses

Finish: malty sweet finish.

Summary: Not really s’more-tasting by any stretch of the imagination. Maybe having a s’more at the same time might help, heck skip the beer. All I taste is thick heavy sweet malt, maybe hints of chocolate – no graham cracker or marshmallow. Too heavy without any real CO2 creaminess or vanilla to back it up.
