Phillips Snowcase 2015 Calendar Day #11
- My Rating: [C+], I gave it a (3.1 of 5) on Ratebeer.com
Rural Brewer Brown Brew – Phillips Brewing, 5.0% ABV – 341ml., (Victoria, BC, Canada)
on the front-right label:
“Rural Brewer Brown Brew is a mouthful, but a mouthful is all you’ll need to be glad you picked up this mumble-producing potation. Pours chestnut-brown with mild roast and round sweet flavours; it’s tough to say but easy to like.”
- Style: Brown Ale
- Taste: Light roast brown sugar malt cola sweet
- Do I love this enough to drink it again: no
- Would I recommend this to beer aficionados: no, just regular
Visual: Pours deep dark brown without a significant head, a very thin layer of hazy retention, a few micro bubbles here and there, suspended sediment.
Nose: brown sugar malts, light roast (lvl-6)-pungency
Mid-palate: micro fizzy, (MAIN) roasted malts, brown sugar, cola -> (lvl-6)-sweetness
Finish: caramel, light roast malty sweet, super subtle bitter hopped finish.
Summary: Drinks pretty solid, just a tad thin on the body. Good all around elements of roast, sweetness, and texture. Nothing groundbreaking.
