Phillips Snowcase 2015 Calendar Day #8
- My Rating: [B], I gave it a (3.4 of 5) on Ratebeer.com
Short Wave West Coast Pale Ale – Phillips Brewing, 5.0% ABV – 341ml., (Victoria, BC, Canada)
on the front-right label:
“Scan through the static and discover the Short Wave. This wireless beer transmitter pours a beautiful sunset orange colour with a pillow white head. A medium, malt-forward body is electrified with bright citrus hops until sweetness and bitter are dialed to balance. Finishing refreshingly dry, enjoy this frequency frequently.”
- Style: American Pale Ale
- Taste: Creamy smooth lemon-orange citrusy malt soft balanced hops
- Do I love this enough to drink it again: no
- Would I recommend this to beer aficionados: not bad, not spectacular
Visual: Pours clear amber orange with a decent foamy head, very sticky lacing, good layer of retention, lots of bubbles here and there.
Nose: orange citrus hop oils, toffee malts. (lvl-5)-pungency
Attack: crisp-smooth micro fizzy
Mid-palate: (lvl-4)-sweetness, sustained creaminess, (MAIN) orange, lemon, sweet malt
Finish: soft subtle mildly piney bitter hops mixed with citrus malty sweetness.
Summary: A very nice medium-bodied, almost-full feeling APA. Body kind of fades near the finish. Tasty citrus and balance, length of flavour is less than the Red Racer NW Pale Ale I had yesterday [B+].
