Phillips Snowcase 2014 Calendar Day #2
- My Rating: [C], I gave it a (2.5 of 5) on Ratebeer.com
Old Pappy’s Smooth Sailin’ Amber Lager – Phillips Brewing, 5.0% ABV – 341ml., (Victoria, BC, Canada)
on the front-right label:
“Through rough waters and treacherous seas, Old Pappy finds the sliver of light in a darkened sky and laughs in the face of adversity. Raise a glass to blind faith and enough positive thought to float a boat in the storm of storms.”
- Style: Amber Lager
- Taste: Crisp numbing med-sweet malty bread lager
- Do I love this enough to drink it again: no
- Would I recommend this to beer aficionados: no
Visual: Pours golden orange without much head, a thin half-layer of retention, lots of fast ‘n steady streams.
Nose: liquid malts, barley, bread/grain. (lvl-4)-pungency
Attack: crisp, tongue-numbing
Mid-palate: (lvl-5)-sweetness, fizzy-numbing, (MAIN) clean liquid malt, barley, bread, lager yeast
Finish: flat-bodied, super-soft hopped, malty finish.
Summary: Not a whole lot of complexity but has a good crisp bite to it. Just average.
