  • My Rating: C+

Banana Hammock Summer Hefeweizen – Parallel 49 Brewery, 6.0% ABV – 650ml., (Vancouver, BC, Canada)

on the front-side label:

“Why don’t bananas like getting sun burnt? Because they peel. Ok, the joke may be bad, but this unfiltered, German-style wheat beer with notes of cloves and banana-like esters is very good. We swear.”

  • Style: Hefeweizen
  • Taste: Wheat malt fizzy banana clove pineapple
  • Where I got it : BC Liquor Stores
  • How much: $5 –650ml., July 2014
  • Do I love this enough to drink it again: no
  • Would I recommend this to beer aficionados: no

Visual: Pours hazy marmalade orange with a quickly dissipating small head, virtually no retention nor lacing, not that many streams either.

Nose: fruity banana, clove, pineapple, wheat malts. (lvl-6)-pungency

Attack: incoming fruity, fizzy-tingly

Mid-palate: still fizzy, (lvl-3)-sweetness, (MAIN) banana, wheat malts, cloves, airy, hints of pineapple

Finish: off-dry fruitiness, wheat malt banana-clove finish.

Summary: Decent flavour up front and in the mids, but falls flat in the finish. Nothing special, just another quick summer brew.
