- My Rating: D-
N2 Nitrogenated Milk Stout – Parallel 49 Brewery, 5.0% ABV – 341ml., (Vancouver, BC, Canada)
- Style: (flavoured, lactose) Stout
- Taste: Flat caramel-cola malt drink
- Where I got it : BC Liquor Stores
How much: $13/6pack – 6x341ml., March 2014
- Do I love this enough to drink it again: no
- Would I recommend this to beer aficionados: hell no!
Visual: Pours dark cola brown, very flat-looking, no head, no lacing, a few micro N2 streams.
Nose: malted mocha, coffee-chocolate-cream (4/10-pungency)
Attack: super-beer-gone-flat mouthfeel,
Mid-palate: super light tingly/then burpy, (MAIN) malt, cola, caramel
Finish: cola, mild roast sweet malt finish.
Summary: I had this on tap at the brewery and it was 100x better. I’m actually offended. This seems way under-nitrogenated to the point where it has barely any effect. There’s no satisfying creaminess, but rather a disappointing yesterday’s beer mouthfeel. The only redeeming factor is the flavour, which is decent. Avoid this one, and try the naturally CO2’d Ugly Sweater Milk Stout (C+) instead.
