Hoppy Easter – Mikkeller (Belgium)

Hoppy Easter – Mikkeller, 6.6% ABV, (Denmark but brewed in Belgium)

My notes:

  • My Rating: B-
  • Why I like it: clean, drinkable bitter IPA
  • Where I got it: Keg n Cork
  • How much: $6 , June 2012
  • Do I love this enough to drink it again: nah
  • Would I recommend this to beer aficionados: yes

Tasting notes: pours cloudy orange/light brown with a thick foamy head and lots of active CO2 streams. A pretty muted nose, just a bit of malt and hops. Silky CO2 mouthfeel, sweetness (6/10) up front quickly transitions to sharp dry hoppy bitterness (8/10), light toffee, red apple, cinnamon, and ends smoothly with a soft lingering bitter finish on the tongue and throat. Medium complexity, medium depth, good transitions, good carry, good drinkability. Quite smooth, but not particularly refreshing or exciting.
